Can you refit before completing current objective?

I have seen posts where the captain indicates he has stopped at Midway, for example, on the way from Pearl to his assigned patrol area. He used the stop to refit (refuel, actually) and then continued on his way with topped off tanks. I run TMO/RSRD, and have never been able to refit before I completed the current outstanding objective. Am I missing something, or was the captain referenced above providing dialogue for the sake of authenticity? I have encountered situations where I have expended all torpedos before reaching my objective, and when I try to refit/rearm at a nearby station (Tulagi, Darwin, etc.) nothing happens. That forces me to go to the Objective, sit and wait until it is met, and then proceed back to base or to a refit/rearm station. Am I complaining about a common situation, or am I missing something? :damn:

Another good thing to do is right before you dock, refit and fill up your torps, that way you get most of your current load and don't have to pay for torps after you dock.

You should be able to refit at any base with an anchor regardless. I play TMO/RSRD and have always been able to do so. Those are bases with sub tenders.

No refits for me

When I have used my payload, I end the mission and go on R&R. I don't want the wife to nag me about (1) racking up tonnage and medals by simply reloading and returning to action, (2) wasting valuable torpedoes, and (3)lying to myself and everyone else aboutl what a skilled commander I have become. I reloaded once, and I never heard the end of it. I had to wear a flak jacket to protect myself, even in the bedroom.:D

Thanks, Guys. I'll try it again, but I swear I have sailed right up to the dock at an anchor-designated port and waited, but no pop-up box like the one I get after completing my objectives!

That said, after encountering some CTD's even on loading saved games, I did a total uninstall. I found that I had 2 installs, so maybe that was causing a problem. l reinstalled base SHIV into a non-ProgramFIles directory, applied the 1.4 patch, and then the 1.5 patch. I then enabled TMO 2.0, TMO 2.0 to 2.1, and the RSRD for TMO, with no other mods. I'll try to refit with what I hope is a clean configuration and let you know.

Good Hunting!

If you don't see the pop up screen, look for the small green anchor icon. This is an old stock SS, but you can see the green icon anchor top right. If your close enough to dock, it will generally pop up regardless of what screen your on. Click the icon and that should bring up the refit/dock options.

Of course you could. You can refit as you please from any American Naval base, tender, or your home base.

American bases got the Upright anchor
American tenders got the Upright anchor too, but you find the anchor on water instead of dry land.

Your homebase is the only one you can refit and/or end mission. Has a tilted anchor.

If you want to skip the 2.5 thousand km trip to Midway and start from Midway, load this mod

Cheers.

Ah, that was the "trick" - I kept waiting for the same kind of pop-up box I would get on arriving at my base after meeting objectives. Instead I needed to click on the anchor icon that appears when I am within 10 NM of any anchor symbol. Simple, but very elusive if one is an ignoramous like me!

Thanks for the tips and responses, Captains! :yeah:
