The Type IX is probably the closest to a Japanese I-Boat in size anyway. In terms of it's structural strength diving time, manueverability underwater, and maximum depth probably far better in many respects. No built in float plane and hanger though.

Well, in the world of simulations, one takes what one can get.

I remember how happy I was to find that there was a flyable Gladiator in IL-2, but only for the Roumanians.

I'll just assume the Japanese are unusually unlucky when I'm their Captain.
