Multiinstall ?

Hi Folks !

Is it possible to do Multi-Installs of SH5 similar as in SH3 ? Is there a Tool / MOD ?

In SH3 I have complete Installs of GWX, WAC and LSH and I want to do the same in SH5 (with MODs for SH5) ! Is it possible ?

Best regards,
Magic

Yes, I know, but this is not the problem.

The Problem is the Folder "SH5" in "My Documents", where the savegames are ! And this Folder have for all Installs the same Name (SH5)!

So I can´t in SH5 play different careers with different MODs at the same Time, because I have ONLY ONE Folder for savegames !

For SH3 / SH4 there are a Tool called "SH3 / SH4 Multiinstall.exe" (or similar) and with this Tool I can rename the Folder "SH3" under "My Documents" to whatever
I want (e.g. GWX / WAC or similar) and then I can have Multiinstalls for all Super-MODs and can play career with the Super-MODs at the same Time (example: Today I play a patrol with GWX, tomorrow with WAC...and so on).

Each Super-MOD has an OWN Folder for Savegames under "My Documents" !

This is what I would like to have for SH5 too !

Best regards,
Magic

Hi Magic1111

Just like I do for sh3, 4 or 5; I just copy and paste the full game in another folder and all those copies work real well ( same or other hard drives). I never had any problem with the games savings either.

Good luck !

Hi !

Mmmmh, I think you don´t understand what I mean ?! I know the solution that you mean, but the Problem is, that all Savegames goes into the same Folder under ...\My Documents\SH5

For Example: In SH3 and SH4 we have an MOD (or Tool), that modify an .dll File in the Main Directory of the Game, so we can change the Name of the Folder under ...\My Documents\ from SH3 to "GWX" or "LSH" or "WAC", and the savegames from the three Super-MODs for SH3 goes into the right Folder. That means, I can create an Career in GWX today and leave the port and go on patrol. On Mid-Patrol I save the game and go back to desktop. A few minutes later I can run the sh3.exe from the Super-MOD WAC or LSH and I go also on patrol and save the game with WAC. Now I´ve beeing at the same time with two Super-MODs for SH3 on Mid-Patrol and can choose, by what for a Super-MOD I continue (today with GWX, tomorrow with WAC...and so on).

This is possible, because the two Super-MODs in my example uses NOT the same Folder for Savegames !

And this is what I want for SH5: To have a Tool, where I can Rename the Folder for Savegames from SH5 to what I want !

Best regards,
Magic

Confirmed. I normally have an entire backup of the original install of any game I play. I just ran my backup copy and it connected and started.

As far as the saved games goes: The folders in your C:\Users\****\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGames are numbered. For example 0000001, 0000004, 0000008, etc. Within these folders is a file named CareerTrack.upc. You can open it with notepad. Your captains name can be found near the top under [CareerTrack 1.CareerStatusHeader].

To differentiate between the various modded installs you may use I suggest that you give each install a different Captains name (when you start a campaign). And if you're like me, write it/them down so ya don't forget which one is which.

In closing I would like to say that regardless if you want to play with multiple installs I highly recommend that anyone thinking about using mods copies their entire SH5 game install folder to another folder on your HDD (or to another drive if ya have one). This will save you the headache of having to reinstall the game when you mess up. And you know we do.

WV

EDIT: And before you post Magic, I know what you are talking about. I am just responding/adding on to what panosrxo reported.
