If you truly support it you'll spend the extra $3 and buy it through Subsim's Amazon link, which also supports Subsim.

Me, I'll "support" the game when they remove the diabolical DRM.

Steve, seeing how you don't have to have your game saves on UBI's server, it's not so bad now. That's one of the reasons I installed it today. And with the mods installed now it's simply mavelous. LOL And I really love the graphics in SH5. IMHO, SHIII was very good but 5 is better.

All of that is very good to hear, but my opinion was never based on how well it works. My opinion is that the the practice is wrong, and I stand firm in my opposition to anything I consider wrong, no matter how pretty they make it.

I'm with ya Steve to this day I have still not given in to SH5... I saw in another post, that said they believed that DRM was here to stay... I have bought 11 P.C. games since SH5 came out 6 of which were big name titles and not one of them had DRM... UBI as far as I can tell is the only one using it (in the games I have bought and am playing) I own SH2,3 & 4 there will be no 5 in my future until DRM is gone... had all of us followed this I strongly believe there would already be no DRM...

Nah... they would have just blamed it on a lack of interest and used it as an excuse to stop work on that paltry pair of pathetic patches they did release.

<- convention requires that I add this, but I really don't think it's the least bit funny.

Unfortunately I think you're probably right.

Starcraft was released with a pseudo DRM arrangement (I think). You must create an account on the Battlenet website to register the game after installation is complete. When you launch the game you also log in to the Battlenet site. I'm pretty sure you can still play the game offline but not sure what happens to saved games.

I had to reinstall my operating system (and games) a couple months ago. When I reinstalled and launched Starcraft I was right where I left off in the campaign so this tells me my saved game is on the Battlenet site. I think this is not bad so long as I can still play offline, save my progress, then have the saved game files synchronize themselves the next time I log in.

Too bad Ubisoft can't follow this approach.

Even cheaper now on amazon...

Of course, if people truly wanted to support the game, they would buy it (as many did), no questions asked, at the full original price of $50.

Cool. It's a great opportunity for those on the fence. But I'm not on the fence.

And if they offered a DRM-free version tomorrow for $50 I'd pay it without a second thought, even though my current computer won't even run it, and being the completist that I am I would probably still play the older ones the most.

Actually I charge for any DRM infested piece of refuse that I consent to take home, plus a destruction fee, a detoxification fee and charges to replace any clothing contaminated during the destruction and detoxification processes, plus interest and penalties.

I figure if they pay me about $50 I'll take it. But I still wouldn't play it with the DRM.

The constant internet connection has been dropped . You only need to be connected to log in . You dont need to worry about losing connection while playing anymore .

Nah, still haven't bought it... still won't buy it.

Though I'd be happy to put up a $30 bid for a platinum edition sans DRM.

Egosoft finally released a nice Gold Edition of X3 so I can finally play that space sim.
The box actually said "DRM Free" on it, just so I'd buy it.
