Congratulations on that, Steve. I hope the talent scouts aren't afraid of a little snow. When did you first pick up the bass?

Had a bout of freezing rain here yesterday, cars off in the ditches in some places. Guess the county mounties and staters spent all day responding to accidents. 22 degrees out right now and more freezing rain expected tonight. I'm thankful for heating, Yak-Traks, and the people that work to keep our roads safe.

You were born in the US? Fancy that.

Happy Thanksgiving, Grant.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm thankful for many things, far too many to acknowledge in a single day, but I have chosen to dedicate this year's Thanksgiving holiday to my fellow subsimmers.

A thank you to all of you, for just being around to talk when I'm bored or need advice or am having a technical issue. Thank you to those who worked with me on the Cavalla. Thank you to the modders, without whom my sojourns beneath the waves would be much less enjoyable. A special "danke" to Skybird, for the effort he has put into improving my chess, and another for my opponents, win or lose.

Finally, lest this turn into something resembling an Oscar acceptance speech, I would like to thank the Onkel himself. Thank you for everything, sir. I'd raise a glass to the monitor, but I haven't a glass of alcohol handy, and as I understand it, you're not a fan of the stuff anyway. Thusly, I raise this can of Dr. Pepper in salute. Cheers!

I am thankful for my wife, my little girl and the next one on the way.

I am thankful for my home, my comforts and my rewarding career.

I am thankful for my health and the health of those I love.

I am thankful for my friends, my co-workers and acquaintances.

I am thankful for SubSim review, for Neal Stevens' work on our behalf, for the gift of his friendship. Along those lines, I am thankful for all of you; the friends that I have met here over the years, both here and now gone. I thank you all for the joy that you have brought to my life.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.

EDIT: Snowing here today. Not enough to stick to anything for too long, but very seasonal looking.

1967. Didn't learn how to play it until 1993.

The first snows started this evening here in Maastricht. I'm just in the door and resemble a postcard. *shiver*

Congrats on the pending new arrival

What I'm thankful for:

My mother and my girlfriend, both healthy and happy.
I still have a job that pays well enough and doesn't drive me mad, at least not every day.
I got to see a little more of the world this year (Australia! ) and hope to see more next year.
A decent flat in a mostly quiet neighborhood, with a terrific view.
Really good coffee and wi-fi almost every day.
I still have my creativity, sense of wonder and hope for humanity. That's almost as amazing as being able to fit in my old trousers!

We've had our turkey 6 weeks ago, but this makes it a good excuse for me to declare this a day for me to be thankful for Americans. Seriously, you guys are great and at the end of the day, those who get to know and befriend Americans have lots to be thankful for. As a majority of my close friends right now are American, I certainly am thankful personally.

So take it easy, enjoy your day off, and accept my thanks for, by and large, being a pretty awesome bunch of people

We had a big blizzard sweep through Tuesday night, and everything was closed yesterday. Luckily it will be too cold to snow again through tomorrow night, so we shouldn't lose any customers for our show on that account.

Since this day began, I've only been conscious for like three hours. I was going to visit my mother, but slept through the window when that was possible. I've been barely out of bed. I guess I've been rather depressed.

Well, you are welcome. I truly believe that Americans are a good bunch of people. Sure we have our problems and sure we make mistakes. The United States being what it is, often our problems and mistakes are big. And when you are looking for a perfect country, well you will have to look someplace else.

But the country is filled with good people who like doing the right thing. And the good part is that since we all have different viewpoints on what is "right", there is often a lotta right going on here.

Hope everyone who celebrated the day had a good one.

I am ATM thankful that I have a nice cozy bed to climb into for a long turkey-nap that I hope will last until tomorrow morning... when I have to get up and go back to work.

But I am thankful that I have a job to get up and go to, as some are not so fortunate.

And thankful for the family and friends I got to spend time with today.

And thankful for Subsim and all the good people here and for everything that participation hereabouts entails, even though the family and friends I spent time with today probably wondered why there was a big honkin' u-boat on my "holiday" apparel.

Sadly, they never actually ask about it. Which deprives me of the opportunity to talk about u-boats on Thanksgiving. Yet another reason to be thankful for Subsim.
