The TSA is pretty absurd. The people they hire look like they'd be a larger threat than many passengers. Half my friends (more?) have Q clearances (heck, got interviewed in the house by an investigator for a friend getting cleared last week). They're gonna get the pat-down from someone in a much tighter financial situation that might be "bought" to look the other way? Guys that deal with designing our defenses and nukes, no less. LOL.

The pilots? Erm, if they want to harm passengers, they are in the cockpit already, they can do like that Egyptian pilot did and crash the plane.

I'm frankly unsure what is to be done. I'd like to see serious studies on the x-ray machines before my kids get scanned repeatedly, for example. What will a pat-down buy some slack-jawed TSA employee find? How much training do they have? As much as a cop doing a search? I think not.

The TSA are incompetent fools. They've never thwarted any plot. They've never stopped any terrorist.

Scary:

My favorite part is where the Hezbollah flag and "Osama bin Laden - Hero of Islam" tshirt raised no suspicions.

Note that the airline STILL cannot guarantee that your bags will not have items stolen out of them when checked.

If the BAGS cannot be secure, then why can't terrorists simply sneak bombs in THERE?

Also, and I'm honestly surprised this has not happened, what about the security lines themselves as a target?

Take our ABQ airport. Most all the planes are 737s and smaller. The security line, OTOH, snakes several planes full of passengers through one, large room. By definition, the people in the line have no yet been searched. If a suicide attacker detonated in the middle of the line, he'd get his dearest wish, the murder of countless innocents (for which Allah gives him a nice prize—yeah Islam!). Also, air travel would be just as screwed with all the economic issues that causes.

I'm not sure I could resist the temptation to put something odorless but squishy down my pants.

Honestly I'm surprised they don't just stop and the end of the runway just outside the fence with a van and two guys with automatic weapons then just shoot at the jets as they take off.

Truthfully. Profiling and questioning would be more effective, both as a deterent and a point defense than this BS. Frankfurt - Main does it.

The Israelis are probably the best in the world with those techniques....it has worked pretty well for them.

I'd rather be profiled and questioned than groped.
