im not too sure. at present i have an Asus 7900gs. and then it gets a little technical - plug size/different types that go from monitor to vid. card. im not au fe with all this. maybe i should pull it out and go to shop to ask for assistance. there is the question of SH5 to consider but i dont have dual core. but maybe a card that is future proofed for this, but im in no hurry to leave SH3GWX.
i dont want to get into cooling fans for vid card etc. keep it simple is my motto at present and i dont have the £'s to do all that. so, an equivalant spec or slightly higher.

cheers

ps. as for vid cards there appears to be dozens - more, its a bit confusing!

CompUSA has some very good prices on GFX cards. Check there too.

Before you go plopping down a wad of cash try re-seating the card. It may have gotten a bad contact.

Most likely the card has failed but it cant hurt to try just removing it, clean the card edge with alchohal and a q tip, let it dry, put it back in and try again.

sorry GT, i live in England, but thanks any way!

@ SteamWake. thanks for that. i had it out yesterday took a good look at it and did some cleaning, i have always been one for cleaning these things out occasioanlly. its running now on this comp. no problems so far...........i rekon ill leave it while im hunting for the new one - and if it goes again meantime, then i will know. i think the general concensus here and from my tech. friend is that it is pooped - or on its way to pooping. ive been looking at a few on the internet and in the shops today. rekon i can get a good one for £60-70 with a gig of memory. after all im only sinking ships!!

cheers

If it is dead, you may want to go with either an EVGA or XFX card. They're both still running lifetime warranties on their cards and you can get either nvidia GeForce (made by both EVGA and XFX) or AMD (ex-ATI) Radeon (made by XFX) based products.
