Yeah he just out of the blue decided to retire. It's not like the Packers pressured him into it right?

Favre made this team sport about the individual (himself). And now look at him. The hero is the pariah justifiably so.
A pariah? Well maybe in Wisconsin but first the Jets and now the Vikings still liked him enough to give him several million bucks to be their starting QB. That's not bad for a pariah!

Ravens all the way! It will be a great game certainly. Know what though, we beat the Steelers. That right there makes my season complete!

I would take Indy over the Skins. Ravens over the Pats (sorry, not impartial here nor will waiver ) The rest look dead on.

I think that Dallas will upend Minnesota, and that Washington will not be able to keep pace with Indy. I also think that although Pittsburgh will win over Cleveland, the game will be surprisingly close.

What happens when your team loses to Oakland? This is what happens.

Heh, spoken like a guy who hasn't experienced the Favre retirement drama year in, year out.

Yeah, he's a pariah around the NFL - a rich, well-paid pariah but one nonetheless. Most people are sick of the schtick.

So you Cheese Heads really think that we don't get news about the NFL way up here in New England?

Bottom line here Mike is that a pariah doesn't have teams willing to pay good money to have him come play for them and in light of that I have to believe that you don't really speak for "most people", inside the NFL or out.

If that were true, Terrell Owens would have been out of football years ago.

You mean like Michael Vick?

That's a rather good analogy. I am passionate about the prevention of animal cruelity, but do admit to overlooking Vick's transgressions as of late because he's winning games for the Eagles. Point taken.

It's not just from around here - Favre's "likeability", if you will, has dropped off the map. Heh, just watch late night talk shows like Leno and national news broadcasts. Vikings fans are sick of him. People see him as sleezy and somewhat lazy, what with his holding out on his "retirement" announcements in order to avoid training camp. He's hardly considered a team guy.

I'm not just flying off the handle here assuming that my world is the whole world when it comes to Favre. A couple of friends I have in Minnesota think that if they lose this Sunday against Dallas, that'll be when Favre's tendonitis injury becomes "too much" for him to continue playing, and the looming threat of a suspension possibly ending his starting streak may move him in that direction.

Besides, plenty of teams pay good money for pariahs (like Vick, Owens, etc.) Barry Bonds comes to mind.

Don't get me wrong, though - I still like what Favre did for the Packers and football. I even have framed posters of the guy hanging in my "man cave". I just think the guy has tarnished his legacy beyond repair at this point.
