Talk about sabotage to one's own legacy.
He was a great one, but that image has long faded. More drama this week with him talking about taking himself out of the lineup because of the tendinitis in his elbow, like that is going to happen.

Brett Favre is a lot like Luciano Pavarotti. In football and opera, each was the best in the business in their day. Each of them were also their own biggest fans. Like Pavarotti, who when no longer having the stamina to perform for three hours recorded countless crappy duet albums in an effort to cling to the spotlight, Favre now bounces from team to team in an effort to cling to the highlight reel.

I agree that there is zero chance of him sitting out. Brett Favre is incapable of benching Brett Favre, especially when he should.

Laying that on Brett Farve is like blaming someone who was slipped a Mickey Finn for becoming inebriated. Who in their right mind would turn down an offer of several million dollars to play the game they love?

Admittedly I have not been following the Favre saga as closely as others have, but I was under the impression that he came out of retirement each time before there were any offers. If that were the case, I'd say that it was not about money. If it were not the case, I would say that you were right.

Maybe the Cheeseheads here would know. Not that it matters; both you and I know that all of the real football takes place east of Ohio.

If he would just come back and play that would be one thing, but the ridiculous drama that follows him is pathetic

I don't think it's so much the money, though that certainly has to be a major factor, but rather the fact that teams still want him to play for them. As long as teams want his services there is no real reason, at least that I can see, for him to walk away from the game.

But that drama is both created and kept going by others. Take this year for example. When asked if he'd play he replied that it depended on whether he would be healthy enough. Instantly the media begins the "is he in or is he out" game to generate controversy.

Bottom line is he'll play for as long as teams are willing to pay him to play.

It goes both ways as far as the drama.

The media makes the mistake and takes the bait. That is what he wants them to do because he likes the attention. He can't help himself, take for example the tendinitis thing this week. Why does he even bother saying this when we all know he would never take himself out of the game. He is a drama queen

Sorry but that just sounds like sour grapes to me. I'm sure Farve would have been happy to keep playing for Green Bay but you guys basically drove him out right?

Not sour grapes at all. We didn't put up with his act and moved on, I am glad we did.

oh August, you big meanie, don't hurt RDP's feelings. Just cuz he has a life-sized, autographed, bronze statue of the Fav-ray in his livingroom doesn't mean anything.

Dude, the guy retired. We said "thanks" and scheduled a ceremony for him. Then he decided that he didn't want to. But we had an excellent QB ready to go.

Favre made this team sport about the individual (himself). And now look at him. The hero is the pariah justifiably so.

Ultimately, long after Favre is but a tainted memory the Packers are likely to be playing competitve football, largely due to the installment of his very talented successor, Aaron Rodgers. Any sour grapes here is more along the lines that the legacy of Brett Favre is far more complimentary than the person, and that's just too damned sad.

I have the "Brent" shirt.

By the way, what's your "Panic Bowl" prediction?

That's a tough one. One of our vendors at work is a romo fan. They are playing at home though...

Depends on favray turnovers...
