There are no locks at Panama or Suez ingame but in RL (and I sailed through them many years ago whilst in the merchant navy) there are numerous locks at Panama only, there is an area at Suez called the Bitter Lakes where the north bound and southbound traffic crossover because the canal is not wide enough for more than one ship column. In picture 1 we can see the land units which consist of coastal bunkers and AA defences. Those at Colon (1) are rendered from 1st Jan 1938, whilst those south of Colon (2) appear 1st Oct 1941 and those in the south (3) appear between 1st Oct 1940 and 1st Oct 1941. Picture 1 ![]() In picture 2 we can see the sub nets, all are rendered on 1st Oct 1941 and are situated 2 metres below the waters surface. It may be possible to cross them at high speed whilst surfaced but you then run the risk of being impaled on top of one or being spotted and fired upon by the shore installations....the question of realism is down to the individual.
