Myself and my friends have nicknamed this type of behaviour the 'Saddam Salute' or 'Iraqi victory salute'. I've never really understood it myself either unless you're wearing a tin helmet under the headgear. Still, whatever makes them happy I suppose.

The habit is retarded though.

Edit: the kinetic energy of a typical fmj round from an ak47 falling at terminal velocity is about 32 to 40 joules. the muzzle energy of the same round is somewhere in the 2,000 joule range. Even the pansie .22LR has at least 3 times the amount of energy.
Tell that to the people who have been killed by falling bullets

As for the rest, infractions have been issued, posts have been cleaned where deemed necessary. Move along now.

I guess its easier for them to find ammunition than fireworks.

As to the 'colateral losses' .. as if they give a damn.

I think he is firing his rifle to simply empty it, a show to the crowd assembled that he feels he is among friends and doesn't need a loaded weapon.

Of course not everyone was Saddam's friend.

Unless it comes from a 16-inch gun. Not bolt-action, but is single fire.

Aww come on, why you say that? Because they are muslims? In america there's also celebratory firing that wounds and kills people. It's not legal, but it happens.
