Don't make claims unless you're willing to back them up. I could say all sorts of nasty things about any group and then fall back on "I don't like to point fingers."

I protested when I noticed that, so it's in my recent post history for anyone interested. Newcomers are attentioned, I know because that's the story of my very own first posts here.

And I don't like to do this, but next time I see it I will report it.

You should report it every time.

However - it is important to note that there is a big difference in discussing pirating (as in does copy protection stop pirates or hurt legit consumers) and giving sources to or encouraging pirating. The first will sometimes be allowed because it does not violate the rules here - where the second does.

Pirating is wrong - so if you do it and admit it here - you will be called on the carpet for it. If you do it and don't say anything about it here, then no one here can do anything about it.

As Neal says - what you do on your pc is your business - but dont discuss it here.

There is a tremendous difference between questioning if a member has a pirated copy and discussing the circumvention of DRM. I didn't issue you the infraction but agree with it. All you got was a slap on the wrist; no points, no brig time. Moreover, it was almost two months ago. It's probably time to get over it.

According to the FAQ there is no such difference:

We do NOT allow discussion or even mention of warez
It was not my intention to trigger this discussion anyway and it's obvious that the rule, by the textbook, is not enforced.

First, the poster did not mention warez or piracy in any specific or promotional manner. He accused another member of having a pirated copy. Such behavior is not a violation of the SubSim.com user agreement. Accordingly, no action was taken. That is the intention of the rule. You are looking to justify your case by splitting hairs.

Yes, it clearly was your intention to trigger this discussion. I can only reitterate that I hope that you are able to get past it. I also firmly restate that I belive the rule is enforced both logically and fairly.

one big source of the problem... newcomers display an overwhelming unfamiliarity with the rules.

the rules all members are supposed to read when they join.

apparently a lot of folks dont.
