It's not like Ubisoft are unwilling to fund another Patch, if sales were bad that would be understandable, but the work is already done. Patch 1.2 exists and obviously has done for some time, they have it in Russia don't they? Why postpone its release indefinitely unless there are some legal issues? What could they be? Is there any way to get the files from Russia? It sounds like a goddamned Cold-war conspiracy thriller!

Nope, translation is spot on.
As for freaking out? Far from it.

WARNING! Estimated patch release date postponed indefinitely! We ask for forgiveness and thank you for your patience!

Ithink it just means they cant give an exact date , thats all.

If it Read :

WARNING! Estimated patch postponed indefinitely!

Then i would agree with you.

Im still hopeful that the delay is due to more work being required, and that maybe a complete re-write of most everything is being done.
I mean given that most have indicated a problem with just about everything that a re-write of everything might be just what they are doing.
But I certainly don't think they have abandoned it, thats just silly.

If the devs are working it into what they im sure intended it to be at release, im sure that will take considerable time. Time they didn't have before, but now that the sim is bringing in cashflow the time and expense is availble to them.
In my mind it's the crew animations and routines that can take more time than any thing and may even require the entire team's efforts including getting motion capture actors into it to get the crew as active as originally intended, and much like what we see in the video demos. Im sure this can be very time consuming.

Maybe the Russians are giving Ubisoft feedback on the 1.20 so that Ubisoft can release to us a better version of the 1.20!
Wouldn't that pee you off if you were a Russian SH 5 gamer? You got the beta 1.20 to test and keep, the rest of us get the proper 1.20

Default With friend like us

I would not be in any way surprised if the patch has been shelved.

If I were Ubi devs, and saw the kinds of vitriol against the game, the "I'm not buying this game because", the "ubisoft sucks", and other such threads, I would not feel all that great or motivated to serve a niche market filled with jerks that hate my guts because my company rushed me and my crew on getting the game out. The last post was also not very nice or helpful. Being an sh player you already acknowledge that you are a tester, as far as Russia getting "stuck" with the beta patch, that is just mean spirited to say. The thread title "spread the love" was hijaked and turned into yet another, bash ubi and sh5 thread, how would you, as a dev feel about that Now take into that the fact Assassin's creed is selling well, and the audience is far more appreciative than we have been.

We have allowed DRM to virtually mortally wound SH. (every time someone decided to not get the game because of the protection scheme, one more nail was driven into the coffin no matter how righteous you thought you were.)

I certainly hope they are indeed completely re-doing the game though, and getting features that were to work, and are in the game, just not activated, to operate correctly.

this is the first game in ages - across any platform where I feel genuinely agreeved - I loved SH4 - but there are just too many bugs in SH5.

I for one will not be buying SH6 - unless its given free to SH5 owners

Not as bad as 5 for sure, but it had it's problems and plenty of naysayers at the time.

Seeing folks option of it now gives one hope for 5 if it is properly patched and continues to be supported with mods.

Attention! Estimated patch release date postponed indefinitely!

Guys, I will make you feel better :

"Patch postponed indefinitely!" was already written on april 12 2010.
So the last info from the devs about the 2nd week of may is still "hopeable"

PS: here a snapshot cache of the page, dated april 26 2010 :
