I'd say there's plenty more out there in the more religious areas of the states, plus anti-government groups in general. After all, since the end of the Cold War, most groups like the Weather Underground and that have disbanded or splintered and their guns have got to go somewhere.

The Beltway Snipers got the coverage because they were on the loose many days. It made for good TV as far as the media was concerned however, concerned citizens wanted to know when these two were picked up. The killing was so random. People were scared.

So an unusual event or a new threat gets its coverage noticed more, whereas just another incident in a long running daily grind of violence south of the border blends in to all the other stories about down there and doesn't get its coverage noticed as much.

So that means in relation to.....

Unless of course there is an agenda underfoot.. yea I know tin foil hat.. sure...

...the agenda isn't hidden, its just plain marketing.
If you want the percieved level of coverage leveled out more make the long running drug war down south become more of a rarity with much less killing and make arresting crazy trailer trash conspiracy nuts a much more common event.
Come to think of it, if you take.....

Well fine.. then at least give them equal coverage not ignore one and be all over the other. That sounds fair to me.

...and maybe get the federal government to make an agency that covers broadcasting and get them to follow a doctrine of fairness to get equal coverage then it would lead to more loonies in trailers going nuts about the evil government interfering with everything and then getting themselves arrested...which should then balance out the reporting nicely.
