looks like a real crowd of winners :shifty:

Yeah, stuff like this is scary, and when they get caught I don't feel sorry for them..

Sledgehammer427 03-31-10 12:15 AM

oh man, I remember hearing about this on the news a couple days ago,

the "christian warriors" that were going to fight alongside Jesus when Armageddon happens.

I guess they didn't read the Bible too closely. The Rapture happens BEFORE Jesus returns, and as good Christians, they wouldn't be around to help him fight. 'Buncha boneheaded nuts looking for a fight. :nope:

OneToughHerring 03-31-10 01:54 AM

Boneheads or not, they were able to get their hands on some AK's etc.

German news covered this story, too. A spokesman of some office or watching orgnaisation (don't remember what it was) said that since Obama took over, the number of such hate groups have exploded by 250% percent. In 2009 alone, he said, 300 such groups were founded, causing security offices major headaches, since it has become extremely difficult to monitor all thesemany groups with the existing ressources.

One has to wonder how many more there are undetected.

Really? It was my understanding that the concept of the Rapture was an invention by modern Christians and has no actual basis in Biblical texts. I'm sure I'm wrong, though. I often am when it comes to Christian stuff, pparently.

While it is a good thing these wackos got stopped I cant help but feel the media coverage on this thing is wall to wall.

It's not like this was a massive movement its a small splinter group of nut jobs. Why the barrage day and night of coverage on this?

But you dont hear much about this situation.

CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Mexico — The killing of an American consulate worker and her husband over the weekend in the shadow of the bridge that links this ramshackle city with the United States has become a public symbol of the mounting concern here that President Felipe Calderón’s strategy for attacking Mexico’s drug cartels is veering far off course.

Interesting you make your point with this story because it actually received quite a bit of coverage here in Britain.

There was like one evening of coverage maybe 5 to 10 minutes on mainstream media broadcasts.

I wonder what the coverage was like on the front lines in Texas? Maybe Neal can enlighten us.

I heard that about a half dozen pepole have been killed down there in the last couple of days.

It's just short of a full blown combat situation there.

Egan 03-31-10 10:30 AM

We had it for about a week - not blanket coverage or anything but it was covered on the main terrestial evening news shows for a couple of days and continued as a point of interest on tv and radio current affairs shows and newspapers for a while after.

It would be interesting to hear from Neal.

You're right though - it's not looking good down there. Not good at all.

Lets keep two stories that are separate stories the way they should be kept: two separate stories. The one says not much about the other. Drug wars in Mexico are about money, racist hate group militias in the US are about sick ideology. The ways media covers the one or the other, do not touch the core of both problems, and only say something about the media themselves.

Freiwillige 03-31-10 11:07 AM

Now Skybird, Where on this green earth did you get the idea that these Christian nut jobs are a Racist Hate group? The Majority of Militias are Constitutionally protected legal groupings. It is not like they wear swastika arm bands and read Mein Kampf. They tend to Read even more dangerous men's ideas such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and dare I speak it, The U.S. constitution!

Now I am no part of any militia but as long as they are open and monitored I have no issue with them. The nutjobs like these guys always get caught so let the legal system handle them and get on with your day without living in fear of these "Racist Hate groups" lol

Well fine.. then at least give them equal coverage not ignore one and be all over the other. That sounds fair to me.

Unless of course there is an agenda underfoot.. yea I know tin foil hat.. sure...
