i hear ya, but i reckon a working boat should be abit dirty and, 'weathered' tho.

that's why I like what was done in SH4, its more off-white so it looks more like a working sub.

I was in a german ww2 u-boat in a swedish museum, and it wasnt painted white in the interior O_o
It was pretty much identical to what you see in the game, color-scheme wise.

wait, they have a WW2 U-boat in Sweden? where?
As far as I remember they have a WW1 sub in Karlskrona, don't know the type. I appreciate any tips, I will hopefully be in Sweden in this summer.

If the museum painted it pink inside would you assume it to be authentic?

I doubt very much these subs were totally white as in those pictures when in service.

What makes you think the museum painted the interior?

Yes, they where white with middle gray on the lower parts in wartime.
Someone even had the details of the standardised colours used IIRC.

The white paint was to prevent rust and to help light up the uboat interior.
It would have been invaluable in the event of a lighting failure.
