If the museum painted it pink inside would you assume it to be authentic?
I doubt very much these subs were totally white as in those pictures when in service. |

Yes, they where white with middle gray on the lower parts in wartime. Someone even had the details of the standardised colours used IIRC. The white paint was to prevent rust and to help light up the uboat interior. It would have been invaluable in the event of a lighting failure.
