What about some hypothetical scenario from 1935 - 1950? .
Starts with normal historical subs and continues to some crazy-experimental weapons . Something like Crimson Skies game and it will be interesting if your actions would deeply impact the war .
Imagine war would be between Allies,Axis and Commitern and everyone wants to control seas , after battles on land have stopped ...
BTW sorry for my bad english

Definitely! SHVI should start in 1948-50,the beginning of the Cold War.Implementing two full 3D submarines, one from US,the other from URSS,even though they were diesel electric still and performing hipothetical missions and what if situations.
Then, once the base game is launched more addons should be developed giving way to the nuclear age,and introducing new technologies, platforms and weapons.
After that, could be left in the air if the modern age could see the light with the ultimate boomers,SSNs,and surface vessels.

I vote for running forward indeed

No, it's not because of drm.. It's not because of one boat, 1943 ending, "ui", etc. etc. It's because every new edition is worse than the last one..

Tell you about 2 full 3D classes for a SHVI:

-US Tang
-URSS Whiskey

+ all surface naval AI forces from both sides at that age. Also nuclear capability for torpedoes.

Looks that interesting?

I'm thinking of a song . . . Also that will be when pc games are so advanced that they are downloaded (with a link to Ubisoft's cerebral servers) directly into your mind.

Don't go there about what you use as a controller . . .

But what would you do the whole time? Patrol around and wait, never getting to fire anything? The only way to do it would be a hypothetical WWIII scenario. Then someone could come up with an ultra-realistic mod so that we can do what modern submarines really do nowadays... prepare for ORSE (Operational Reactor Safeguards Examination) over and over. After all, most of the current skippers think that the primary mission of the submarine is to score high on ORSE. Sad really.

You probably wouldn't get to go aft though, since the Navy would have a hissy fit if someone modeled one of our "confidential" nuclear engine rooms, even though there's really nothing of interest there, either.

Modern day subs would be boring too (I know... I was there.)

Even if you did had a hypothetical WWIII scenario, you can't use the scope... that damn thing gets picked up on radar the second it breaks the surface... so you'd be doing sonar-only intercepts the whole time.

If it's set in the future... uggh... no thank you. I can't stand any game that's not based on reality.
I would love a cold war game.
But it has to be a "What if" scenarion like if missile exchanges were going to start and you ave to find and sink the Soviot Sub.

3 was worse than 2?

My answer to the poll is: It Depends. If SH5 is as modable as we would like, or if they do DLC for it, the anything is possible with this one title. It may well be possible to recreate the Pacific war with this one game. Of course someone would have to actually fund proper British, Dutch or Japanese voices, but it could be done.

If that is the case then SH6 can be anything it wants to be. Of course if the above is true then SH5 could also be modded into a Cold War sim, or anything else we liked.

So, once again, I didn't vote.

Confirm!!! But, later on develop an amazing SH starting in the 60s and able to upgrade via modular releases, bringing us new submarines and surface platforms.
A good start would be: SHVI The Cold War Below, featuring Tang and Whiskey classes + further expansion implementing Farragut DD and Kara classes + more and more modular platforms.

We need a really dynamic future SH series!!

I vote for a bleak dystopian future where aliens are ruling the earth, and the crew of an old restored WWII sub is our only hope.

So much untapped potential here.

Imagine all the role-playing and intrigue from walking around in that entire sub!
