Spent a couple hours with it. Most of the fears ( other than DRM ) most of us have been concerned about are unfounded in my first impressions. We can still control things pretty much as in previous versions except DIFFERENTLY...Some things more intuitive, some less..Make no mistake, there are annoying little struggles to make happen what you want to happen. ( Still can't get the observation 'scope all the way down! )
Bottom line, IMHO, there's a lot of playability here once we adapt to a somewhat different approach to the sim..but a lot of the changes are based on former version wishlists. The devs have given us more content, however, if part of their intent was to widen the appeal to FPS arcade crowd, it's minimal . I'm sure there aren't enough rivits or the right colors here and there but I served on British "A" boats which were VERY similiar to the VIIC and I'm not distracted enough by those elements not to say this SH version makes you feel more part of something that happened in history...... |
