I think at Subsim there are a lot of old customers that have bought at least one of the previous silent hunter titles, and who voice their honest critique and expectations as to what they would call an improvement of SHIII, and what they would like to see and what is not an important part of a simulation engine for them. Some, eh most of the people here (see polls, hard numbers are luckily not discussable) also voice their strong disagreements with the "single player online DRM", which come with significant disadvantages and clearly hits the truthful customer more than piracy. For some, like me, the OSP/DRM is a not a way I can go -- because I simply don't have reliable internet at all times, and also because of principle (why does single player need a permanent connection? Why would my car need to be permanently be connected to a gas station?????)

I am presently out of country and have a slow internet connection here in Rio. Bad luck some would say, but I would say a customer less. It just doesn't work for me.

Well said Jah.While I am not an old customer, SH 4 was first SH game I have owned and first subsim I ever played, I love it, esp with the great mods. While I prefer US side of things, just find it more interesting, I planned to purchase and play SH 5 in order to support the franchise and see the next evolution, assumed it would be great. However, the letters DRM changed that for me.Things changed not because my internet is unreliable, it is actually very reliable but out of principle.I am in my early 20's and one thing serious issue I have with most people my age is they have no principles or do(pretend) they don't mind bending them for the smallest reasons.I have mine and do my best to adhere to them.DRM is an example of whats wrong with business and only way to stop it is to make it known that many of us disapprove and make their sales figures lower.Perhaps they will learn, I bet they will.
I think it does boil down to what you said, certain members do not want their new toy to be picked apart for its oh so obvious flaws...DRM, arcadish look etc

How about the I WANNA WHINE PERIOD users? Gawd you folks have made this SO confusing, I think I'll just whine about the people in doublewides who dare breathe Neal's air.

Posters are free to post their gripes about DRM/Uplay to their heart's content, but once you have posted the same argument 10-20 times and analysed every side of the issue to death, do we have to keep seeing the same posts ad nauseum?

No one here is happy about Uplay, but I am willing to give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt and give SH5 a try. Some players here are actually planning to buy SH5 and would like to be able to discuss issues pertaining to the game, without having the DRM/Uplay issue brought up in every thread. Are'nt they entitled to some consideration as well?

Of course they are entitled to consideration, just like those of us who deserve not to be called whiners because we have concerns about SH 5, feel UBI does not deserve the benefit of the doubt on this one and voice those concerns via the forums.I understand it has been a well discussed hot issue and remains so and lets face it, it prob will for a long while.I have made a few posts on it myself, usually responding to someone, that is the point of a forum.Still, can't label someone a whiner because they are discussing an issue and have a dissenting view.

You guys realize that this thread, as it stands right now, has one single purpose, which is to get people to write for nothing and kick each other's asses, right? It's not healthy.

BTW, Firewall, why does your link redirect me to Subsim with a different forum skin?

So why do you need to label players who disagree with you as sheep or other such demeaning comments? We can have an honest disagreement without resorting to personal insults. If we go down that road, I have an entire encyclopedia of choice words for my opponents.

There has never been any whinning from my part and I like a lot of what I see in SH5. I just find the DRM, OSP, Uplay (great name changing maneuvers ) UNACCEPTABLE!

BUT!

How can someone stop whining after getting a BLACK nose by just looking through that ugly BLACK SH5's periscope?

Not only getting a BLACK nose but also feeling sick from seeing SH3's waves through that ugly periscope they should stop porting SH3's stuff into SH5's

EDIT:

I'm not whining I'm just expressing a serious concern so stop whining at me and send couple of wine bottles instead

Stop whining and being negative about SH5 would be a better way of writing this.
