With that said. I still wish you the best of luck. Enjoy.

Continually harping that you don't want to buy a $50 game because of the "copy protection method" or because you personally "do not like the look", is not an issue of "dissent" or "free speech".

Protesting against the Iraq War or human rights abuses in China is an issue of "dissent" and "free speech", this is just plain silly.

Because sh5 will be modded easier than the previous versions.

Don`t you see that??

In sh5 we have a nice texture and flooding etc.

I stay with my opion that this will THE submarine simulation later.

Man, that's harsh, FW. I think he meaning he has been playing ROF and it (until recently) required a connection. Couldn't you just pass the info without the slight?

We should have some sub-forums

One for people to bitch about the DRM
One for people to bitch about the game
One for people to bitch about the people who bitch about the DRM and the game.
One for people to bitch about the people bitching about the people bitching about the DRM and the game.

That should probably cover it, but more could be added as the need arises.

*edit* And yes, I'm just as guilty

I didn't intend it to be harsh. If you read his post he still thinks drm is alive and well in Rof.

He's the one that used it for an example. His words...

Yeah, as long as there are worst things in the world, don't criticize anything and be happy, man, BE HAPPY. "Best argument ever".

A car seller swindled you? Man, don't complain, at least you're not in Haïti!
Oh well...

Bilge_Rat, I trust you never criticize or complain about anything less important than famine in the world, in your life.

whatever man... I guess we'll let the mods figure this one out..

Default nonsense thread

Hmmh, reading this thread I wonder who is the whiner here and what/who is being whined about? A few very young pals getting upset that someone critisizes their new toy?

I think at Subsim there are a lot of old customers that have bought at least one of the previous silent hunter titles, and who voice their honest critique and expectations as to what they would call an improvement of SHIII, and what they would like to see and what is not an important part of a simulation engine for them. Some, eh most of the people here (see polls, hard numbers are luckily not discussable) also voice their strong disagreements with the "single player online DRM", which come with significant disadvantages and clearly hits the truthful customer more than piracy. For some, like me, the OSP/DRM is a not a way I can go -- because I simply don't have reliable internet at all times, and also because of principle (why does single player need a permanent connection? Why would my car need to be permanently be connected to a gas station?????)

I am presently out of country and have a slow internet connection here in Rio. Bad luck some would say, but I would say a customer less. It just doesn't work for me.

Became an issue of dissent or free speech when certain people began tell those(many of us) who are against DRM and do not like seeing the only subsim series out there right now being turned into an arcade game for simpletons , to stop "continually harping" or "whining" about issues concerning SH 5.Dissent is not whining in reality, only whining to those who do not want to hear it and try to dismiss it as such in order to discredit the argument, kind of like politics. This goes on in even debates on the smallest issue. Now, we are not talking about a war or human rights abuses here but still worth the discussion and everyone should get to post without being called a "whiner" by those who disagree.

Who are you to decide what speech justifies protection? The content of the speech bears no effect on its protection, nor should it barring speech suggesting things that are illegal or harm others. Even the most trivial of speech is deserving of just as vigorous protection. IMHO.

Well, actually, I know I wont be able to live up to that high standard since I can complain with the best of them....

Posters are free to post their gripes about DRM/Uplay to their heart's content, but once you have posted the same argument 10-20 times and analysed every side of the issue to death, do we have to keep seeing the same posts ad nauseum?

No one here is happy about Uplay, but I am willing to give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt and give SH5 a try. Some players here are actually planning to buy SH5 and would like to be able to discuss issues pertaining to the game, without having the DRM/Uplay issue brought up in every thread. Are'nt they entitled to some consideration as well?
