Put it down to the extreme pressure your boat is under....hence the sluggishness/failure to react to commands as quickly as it would in shallower waters.

You should also notice that in depths of 200metres plus you need to put a few more revs on the clock to help prevent her from sinking sloooowly out of control.

Keep a watchful eye on the depth guage.
