Ah. In which specific file might I find that line? I don't think it's in main.cfg.

I'm unsure about what is exactly modelled in the game and what not, but in real submarines there are lots of factors that can cause uncontrolled dives (And rises).

Quote:
Put it down to the extreme pressure your boat is under....hence the sluggishness/failure to react to commands as quickly as it would in shallower waters.

You should also notice that in depths of 200metres plus you need to put a few more revs on the clock to help prevent her from sinking sloooowly out of control.
When the sub dives very deep the pressure on the hull is so strong that it is bent inwards and the submarine loses "volume" and water displacement. Hence it becomes heavier in proportion to the water that surrounds it, and sinks more or floats less

This was a very quick external cam shot of my IXB sub going down for the last time. Full reverse engines, blow ballast x10, damage control wrenching out massive pressure leaks as they go tumbling to the bow. About the only thing that could have lessened the dive (maybe?) was to have been able to send surplus crew to the stern, and fast. I did learn some new lessons since this time out.

Its your submarine.cfg file (e.g. NSS_Uboat9c.cfg) in submarine/NSS_Uboat9c

Look for:
[Properties]
PeriscopeDepth=13.5;meters 12.5
SnorkelDepth=7.8;meters
CrashDepth=140;meters
MaxDepth=500;meters
SurfaceDepth=8;meters
TorpLaunchMaxDepth=20;meters
StormConditions=11,0.4;max wind speed [m/s], max rain intensity [0,1]

My IXC is modded because I use it in deep water, hence 140m is a decent crash depth for the way I play.

Especially handy for those who like to perform harbour raids
