Only thing that got me about the original and now the remake is that the US would never be taken by force. Instead it will crumble from within.

Think the havoc an army (even if purely conventional) of 100 million men (less than 10% of their population) could do if unleashed onto the world.
No amount of machinery is going to stop an army this big. ^_^

Bah. Numbers aren't everything. Those sheer numbers still have to eat, still have to be clothed, sheltered, supplied and equipped. Put 100 million men way out on the end of a 10,000 mile long supply line surrounded by a hostile and well armed populace and watch those numbers tumble through starvation and disease.
