The the US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines sat on their behinds and watched it happen? That was the bit I never understood. The movie was OK I just couldn't get behind the premise that the Reds would have been able to get as far as they did without some real fight from the Yanks.

Sorry Freewillige, my US geography was never that good.

If it's set now, that could happen with the 5th column: Obama

The opening scene to the movie:
Chinese paratroopers walk into a whitehouse party and say: You owe us a lot of money. Where's my money bee-hotch?

I'm sure I saw you in both of the vids. First in the fan trailer in the Civil War reenactment and then on the Dangerous Citizen Alert board!

EDIT: Just found this well written review of the script of the remake: http://www.cinema-suicide.com/2009/0...script-review/

The review makes a good point that China is an unlikely threat, but I can't go along with his idea that North Korea would be a more plausible threat. They can't feed themselves let alone invade North America.

The Soviet plan in the original 1984 movie involved seizing every McDonald's drive-thru in the nation, thereby starving America into submission.

With the town completely overrun by the enemy, Matt and Jed watch helplessly as their father gives up his life to protect his family, allowing his sons to escape into the Cascade mountains
Looks like the script writers failed their geography. The Cascade Mountains are over a hundred miles from Spokane. Much easier to cross into Idaho and use the nearby Rockies, or the Selkirk Mountains to the north.

Better yet, let the enemy have Spokane. From my experience with that town they'll die of boredom within weeks.

Egads, the Chinese are a sensitive lot at the best of times, I dread to think what kind of uproar they'll create when this is released.

However, it should make for fairly decent viewing alright

You ain't seen nothing.
I still remember watching in the theater Invasion USA with Chuck Norris.
Thats the summit of implausability.
Terrorists that spank the US, and Chuck Norris that single handedly spanks the poor terrorists.
