But since the market is so cost competive now these 'extras' are now omitted to keep the base price of the hardware down.

The price on these cables I find outragous. I payed nearly $20.00 us for mine. Im sure I could have gotten it cheaper but I wanted it 'right now'

Then I could have probably made the cable for like 5 bucks.

My board came with 4 of them I think, but I didn't know they had those clips to make sure they stayed in place; I ordered 2 more when I purchased the parts. Think I paid less than $10,- for the 2.

I've always bought HDs as "bulk edition". Never seen one that came with extra parts. Even IDE drives only came with 1 or 2 jumpers already on the pins.
