Ha I was thinking the same thing! (Stop reading my mind SW) I love the opening to the first episode, the dedication of the series to all resistance fighters, past, present, and future

I miss those 80's shows, they were pretty cool.

The news media swoons in admiration -- one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: "Why don't you show some respect?!" The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader's origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: "Embracing change is never easy."

So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait -- did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who's come here to eat us?
The real version is a marxisit lizard who is going to rape our wallets and plunder our economy.

Now how can you accuse obama of being a reptile?

Well, he is a lawyer

okay, so the show is about obama.

It's funny how perspectives change depending on who's in power. I remember talking to a conservative leaning guy shortly after the movie came out who wouldn't see it because he thought it was too anti government.

I never saw the series but thought the movie was pretty good.

Funny it's just been advertised on TV last night, starts soon, anyone know what it's like compared to the original? Worth watching or crap?

Saw it tonight. Not so good. Very rushed pacing, the story is blah, imo.

But I got a huge laugh when the Visitors said they came to bring Universal Health Care.

You ain't kidding. I think there were about 5 episodes of material that they rushed through. If I had not been familiar with the storyline (yes, I watched the original series in prime time) I would have been lost.

Surprising really, People are complaining about the slow pace of the Stargate Universe show and something like this comes along and shows them what happens when you fast-track it.

Bottom line: piss poor remake.

Yeah, I chuckled also at the healthcare line. The plot is a bit lame. I think it was rushed as there was only 1 hour. Usually a premier is two hours. Throw in some nudity should liven up the story.

Wait, what am I thinking Hollywood would never make fun of The Leader (praise allah, bessed be His name our leader Obama)...
So in the new show, the aliens are bushcheneypalinrumsfeldhalliburton, and the leader will save us from those from the bourgeois. The Leader utilizes his faith of Marx-Leninism to crush the capitalist invaders.
