Getting the documents was fine, thanks mainly to you for your great high-resolution scans. It all fell apart at the document cleanup stage. I'm useless at graphics. LzZ was very helpful, but recognised his limitations. I asked a few of the "better known" graphic artists whether they could help clean up the files (mainly by PM), as well as in my thread, but didn't get too far. Not their fault of course - RL should override anything games related.

Anyway, you can see where I got up to in the thread linked above, as I pretty much posted SH3Cmdr-generated examples, warts and all, of each certificate.
I'm not great working with graphics, decent with photoshop, etc., but if you decide to do any work in this area for SH5, I have a LOT of source material to scan.

Anything Iron cross related, literally from its inception to post-war I've got covered; every grade imaginable including rare variants, presentation documents, award cases, etc...

Might as well put some of this stuff to use.

Thanks. Checkout the thread I linked above that shows where I got up to - it could effortlessly be ported over to SH5 (if needed). To that end, if you have full size scans of any awarded documents, that would be absolutely brilliant.

No problem. Will have a new scanner by the time the game's released, so we should end up with some very good material if we need it.

Be interesting to see how in depth they go on the awards, or if it's just kind of an after-thought. No doubt it'll be 'fill in the box' again...

swastika's cannot be sold in germany, so if they want to include that market they'd have to avoid showing any of that symbolism and just stick to iron crosses. It would be up to modders later to add such in if desired

No different to SH3, I'd presume. Didn't take long for the swastica mods to appear.

Usually games about WW2 have 2 versions, with and without the "thingie". I for one prefer the German cross any day and the only Conning tower emblem I've ever used was "Fur Deutchland".

But after reading this (taken from wikipedia), I think games should substitute the swastika with a simple black X.

In spring 2007 a petition to the parliament (the Bundestag) to reintroduce the Iron Cross as an award for military bravery was initiated. The parliament decided on 13 December 2007 to leave it to the Ministry of Defence to decide on the matter[8]. The proposal was supported by the President of the Reservistenverband, Ernst-Reinhard Beck (CDU). Beck stated that the symbol was used as the symbol of all German military vehicles, airplanes and ships, and constituted a symbol of hope, aid and solidarity in crisis areas[9][10].

Default Germans

It used to bother me that when it came to the German decorations in WWII games they were inevitably shown 'de-nazified' as in the post-war period, but that's usually one of the first things modders attend to anyhow, so it's ok by me.

Those things are usually pretty easily 'fixed'...
