i've been attacked by a couple of zeroes, and in the fight they throwed at me at leat 4 depth charges(every plane)
what is the best way to beat or avoid the irritating air patrols? sometimes even in 100 depth they still see and hit me where are the major danger areas in matter of patrol planes? |

Zero's carry bombs, i dont recall putting depth charges on them. The twin engine aircraft will carry a mix of bombs and depth charges for better effect.
![]() - Air dropped bombs are set to detonate anywhere between 62 and 68 feet. - Air dropped depth charges are set to detonate anywhere between 144 and 150 feet. |

I recommend not being seen. Assuming you have radar, be at or below periscope depth when they come within 5 miles of your sun, on the way down to about 120 feet. It is possible they could see you down there, but sightings would be VERY rare. Hit the stopwatch when you pass periscope depth, pop back up to the surface at the 5 minute mark and there cannot be another airplane up there that you did not previously detect.
This eliminates the necessity of sitting at periscope depth, raising the air search radar antenna and looking around. You want to spend as close to 100% of your time on the surface as you can. ![]()

I'm newbie in this simulator, so apologize me if I'm saying nonsense things, but aren't the zeros too much light to carry 4 pairs of bombs?
Maybe the aircraft thing is something to look ahead in future updates for TM, as many people complain about their detections, precision and capacity of combat. Not asking for easier aircrafts, but more realistic ones, if the things we are discussing here aren't really realistic (we may be wrong and Ducimus right about it, and vice-versa) |

TMO planes are designed to be deadly. My only problem with TMO planes is they do spawn a little too much and Zeros were rarely used for ASW except for carriers.
Their skill is no problem with me because they are actually a threat in TMO and that is realistic.Fact is, in certain sea states planes could and can see a submerged submarine, esp a periscope depth. Probem is a lot of people who do not know better leave stock into TMO expecting to duke it out with AA guns, well ladies, that is not happening.Best thing to do is do what real skippers did, DIVE fast and down to 200 feet or so.200 feet because more than likely they will not spot you and their bombs or depth charges can NOT get there.Stay there a little while, then pop up , use SD radar antenna(T key) to sweep, if clear, surface.Or use robbins method of staying under for 10 mins or so, then popping back up.Good method but problem i have found a lot of time is that planes will withing a couple hours, which is minutes on high time compression, they will fly back in the area.So a couple areas under at dead slow spee works also. See if you avoid one plane and it doesnt spot it, most of the time that is all you will deal with for the day, just regular patrols. If you are detected, strikes will be called in(often Zeros) to hunt you. So, DIVE, DIVE and DIVE, dont try to shoot it out on surface.Only time shooting it out surface is if am worried im trapped, then i order my AA gun(s) manned and put the aircraft astern , many times they wont spot me, if they do, AA gun with my best gunner helps, as well as high speed and right or left rudder when they plane is near by ready to drop. I've only been killed by ONE plane in TMO and it got lucky because I lost a little respect for them over time. Now, they rarely even detect me to drop, if they do, i dont give them a chance to hit me.The real evil in TMO are the escorts and they are betable as well but by their nature, a tad more difficult. After looking at the ME here are the loadouts(from memory) Zeros:3-5 bombs H6K searchplane 6 depth charges or 8 bombs. H8K Emily-8 Depth Charges or 16 bombs Kates can carry 3 bombs or one torpedo Valls can carry 3 bombs or 2 depth charges The single engine floatplanes can carry 2 bombs or two depth charges. Bettys can carry 4 depth charges or 6 bombs. The basic loadouts mean they have a mix(i believe) I know this because i've added planes to some convoys as air cover(so they have constant air cover, makes convoy a challenging target usually) Again, TMO planes are not that hard to get around, just treat planes as a real threat as real skippers did and DIVE to avoid them. |

they come down just after passing by you as my experience, H6K planes are hard to shoot down, you shoot, they get in flames but rarely they come down zeros come in pairs and have a high precision if you use to stay in straight like |
