Seems like a pretty fair sentence to me, if a bit light.

I must say I'm impressed at how composed and rational you're being about all this, GR. Am I to understand that you didn't even attempt to sue?
If so, it says a lot about your character. Many people would have been incensed over that vedict and would have demanded civil restitutions as well, but you.....you just say what's done is done and even empathize with that idiot's parents? Very noble of you, GR. Good show

he will be in jail for the next 90 days while everything is set in motion.

@Lance

thanks, i felt sorrow for his family... it could have been any one of us with a black sheep of the family member such as a cousin or brother or sister facing the next 20 years in prison. it was emotional for his parents who have no disagreement over the fact that their son is a moron underachiever - but he is still their son.

personally i'm just ready to be done with it.

and even if i were to sue... the young man is the type to not have a pot to piss in anyhow so to speak.

At least that ruling is reasonable. But I do think missing one AA meeting in the next 50 years is just a little on the harsh side of things.

If this bloke had've done this down here. Probably half that, maximum I reckon of about 5 years in jail. Or he might've avoided it entirely and had to work off a court order. Yeah the Australian court system is a pansy's system.

Glad the matter is resolved. I would be mad if I saw my car set on fire without reason or even with reason.

So I thought that he had to go to every AA meeting until he dies and, assuming an average life expectancy of around 70 years, he would have 50 years left as a 20-year old.
But then one AA meeting during his probation is as good as nothing.

It's not supposed to be easy. He's basically being given a chance to square himself away but he's going to have to work for it.

Got it
Seems to be a reasonable verdict then - at least if it makes him realize how close he got (and still is) to actual imprisonment.
