Anyone wants to use the word "SUBSIM" has to pay him.
Anyone wants to use the word "Carotio" you don't get squat.
I suspected it was related that way to $$$, but again the question remains a bit...
Carotio is actually two words written as one. Ask an Italian what it means:
caro tio I don't wanna trademark the name. I'm too much a bad wolf to protect a notoriously bad rumoured name....

Most people don't do that sort of thing in the first place, because they respect each other.
What I really meant by what it is good for, is that since you speak of respect among each other, do you then have previous incidents where the subsim name was in any real danger of being picked by someone else?
Still just curious...

Congratulations! Is this the new official Subsim (®!) logo ? I guess the "two years of hard work" mean you designing that picture above

As for the "cake and ice cream" part: Sounds more like a birthday party for kids (no offence) I myself are going to celebrate it with a cold one

Neal,

On a slightly more judicial note, would YOU like the subsim members who have websites that link or refer to Subsim, to request permission to use the name on their site?

I'm thinking maybe an open topic whereby requests can be made, and you can gave a yah or nay in the forums, instead of adding to the millions of PM you receive every day.

I'm wondering. Do we become patented members now?

Good to hear.

I knew what it was just wanted to make sure there would be no conflict there.

Why did it take two damn years though? I mean I thought we had a lean mean efficent goverment in place now.

I think this is WAY cool.

Subsim has become something akin to an institution on the net. It's my favorite place (due in no small part to Neal and the community) and I'm happy to see it become officialy recognized and protected.

Congrats!

Sweet! Congrats Neal!

now we need a band, to play heavy metal versions of the theme music from AOTD, SHIII and IV, and we can start releasing CD's!

I'll play guitar!

Now if you need money for a server upgrade, you can just hold some people liable for infringement. :rotfl:

Grats.
