The only small advice I could give is about the speed of the various models: According to the informations found on Dallies-Labourdette s-boot bible and at German-navy.de, the various top speeds should be as follows:
S-7: 36.5-37 kts
S-14: 39.8 kts (for the mercedes-engined boats, the first four man-engined ones were slightly slower)
S-26:same as s-14
S-38: 41-41.5kts ( a lot of boats recorded top speeds of 42 knots pushing engines beyond their factory limitations )
S-38b: 39.5-40kts. The heavy armored cupola takes a toll of 2 knots.
S-100 ok as it is (42kts)
S-700: 44kts ( Assuming that we have 3 out of the six 3000hp engines ever produced during wartime )

However, you are our sole and magnificent leader...Only you knows what is better for us.
Speak and we will built an Ark...with Mercedes engines!:rotfl:

Have a nice Week end Mike!

@ Mikhayl

Stunning work Great to have you back again!

@A6Intruder

You wouldn't have seen any exhaust smoke from the later model S-Boote - the engine exhaust ducts were below the water line.

There is a close up photo of these in Squadron Signal Warships No 18 : Schnellboot in Action (page 36).

Did you mean smoke-screen generation?

No i don`t speak about "smokewalls" I am speaking about exhaustsmoke like the U-Boats have since Racerboy.
Maybe a feature for the earlyones.
Best regards

Horses ? Sea Horses maybe

If you mean HP per se - Don't think it was much of a problem. Looks like these ducts were angled rearward and protected against water ingress/pressure by streamlined semi-circular housings. Besides, with total HPs ( for the main production classes ) ranging from approx 6000/9000hp - none of them were exactly short of grunt!

The earlier models ( probably S7/S14? ) certainly did emit some exhaust smoke. Particularly the M.A.N engined variants which produced thick black smoke trails. These engines were extremely unsatisfactory and Daimler-Benz became the sole S-Boot engine supplier. One of the many advantages of the DB motors was that they produced virtually invisible exhaust gases.

BTW: Thanks for mentioning LSH4. Had a look at the manual (including the screenshot of the smoke screen laying DD) and really liked what I saw. Have now downloaded.

Mercedes engines were clearly more powerful but above all were very reliable.
Obviously the quantity of exhaust smoke varied with the quality of the fuel...however seawater washed well any sort of smoke before the gas bubbles reached the surface.

I used another source http://schnellboot.org/de/kriegsmarine/index.html but I made mistakes anyway, now it looks like that (tested with perfect weather 0 wind):

S7: 36knots - 37 with MB501 upgrade (MB511 is only for late war boats with the armored bridge)

S14: same speed, I leave it that way because the MAN engine boats did about 35/36. In game the model is identical to the S7 but with 2 extra torpedoes so the same speed sounds about ok.

S26: 39.5 knots - 40 with MB501 upgrade

S38: 41.5 knots, it has the MB501 from the get go and no upgrade available

S38b: 39.5 knots, 41 with the late war MB511 engines (available Nov 1944)

S100: 42 knots, 43 with MB511

S700: 43 knots, 44 knots with MB511

Hopefully the last problems with some boats are sorted out, I just sent the files to Marko, we'll see.

A few more info:

-there's indeed no exhaust smoke as they were underwater though I'm not sure if it's true for the S7/S14 class boats.

-the smoke screen is back but it's only eye candy, no effect on AI

-emblems are back too, finally. 1 big on the stern and 1 medium on each side of the boat, + 1 small on two panels for the boats with the armored bridge (same emblem for both panels but not mirrored so you can used letters). I haven't created any though so you'll have to make your own from the template. Oh and the side emblems won't work so well with the tiger stripe texture of the S38 since it has an embedded emblem. Still looking for someone talented to do some nice camo patterns for these boats

-new 20mm guns created by Testpilot: http://forums-de.ubi.com/eve/forums/...2/m/5311060627
Now sound just perfect...How about remodelling the 3.7 single shot flak as a Bofors 40mm? A lot of S-38 boats mounted it...but I don't know if player-operated guns could be remodeled so radically

You will much more like it if you are playing LSH4. Not very often mentioned here but, even i will be "killed", the best availible Mod for SH3!
Best regards

You can use the existing Bofors and just build a new dat, sim, zon
adjusted for a player Gun.
Or build a completely new and more detailed Bofors with said adjustments.
It's not impossible.
Just time consumeing.

Makeing a working smoke screen, not just eye candy?
I'm testing a few ideas now.

Hi Mikhayl,

good to to see you're working again on your fantastic S-Boat Mod... at the moment we're starting to have S-Boats in our Fleet (www.flottenbasis.de)... thx for that.... I'm looking forward to the update - by the way... will be the possibility to use the decoys as a fog-can like in your thread?
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...130088&page=44
In history you've probs with that - did you handle it know?

If you need any help - don't be shy... tell it me... like in further times - I will try my best to help...!

And special Thx to asanovic - to open and work on this mod!

The 37mm guns are now deckguns in disguise so they will fire at enemy ships. The tradeoffs is that you only have HE ammo and the 20mm vierling is no longer available.
For the depth charges, now that you mention it, I think I could use Dietrich's magnetic mine mod and change the 3D model to be either a depth charge or those sort of shell-shaped explosive buoys.

Basically there's a lot of things I'd like to do/use but it will take time so there's no guarantee. Meanwhile Marko should have the update for GWX ready soon. I had some further problems with the boats and some details but it's fixed (I think) so it should be fine now.
The Sprengbojen like those depicted above would look a bit ugly and after all the S-boats didn't carried them very often. S-boot DC were smaller than those carried by the destroyers, only 50 kg, and they carried max 4 of these weapons to not alter drastically the boat's performances.
Then, they carried them only whenthe boat was involved in escort or antisubmarine duty, especially during Norwegian campaign.
One more question: Flotilla tranfers are now possible?

Thanks you
