It would take alot of nukes to knock us off the map... lots of populace, compared to north korea. and after they fire there nuke, we would fire ares.... and being that in NK they are jam packed in there, there would be not too many left...

The USA would not send any over unless in retaliation. My original post concerns a bit of muscle flexing on the part of the USA. Would you agree?

Any overt act of aggression by the DPRK would mean their quick and painful end (And this time they won't have the Chinese coming over to save them), launching something in the direction of the US just might be the best thing that happened to the ultimate stability of the region in 50 years

I say, that as soon (if ever) as KK tells the idiot to fire the missile that the us should get interceptor missiles ready, and fire a counterattack against them... I still get this feeling that the koreans arnt gonna do a thing. the nk are useing this missile like a angry 5 year old laying down, banging there fists and yelling. they see it gets them what they want, there name in the news, and diplomatic attempts which has just helped them out.

I suspect they will not do anything because it is a no win situation for all involved.

Kim Jong-Il is actually pretty sane and steady. The whole insane unstable dictator thing is just an act to get concessions out of the US. It's quite clever, and during the last administration it was very effective.
But Kim Jong-Il might not be in power much longer, and it remains to be seen who takes over and what they're like. One thing is for sure though - a pre-emptive American strike against North Korea simply is not an option. The US knows that, as does North Korea. If North Korea were an island in the middle of nowhere we would have invaded them long ago, but they're not - they're right next to a major American ally and a key player in the global economy. Even if we win the war (which I'm confident we would) it would still destroy Seoul and devestate South Korea. That's not a price that the US is willing to pay. The only way the US would attack North Korea is if North Korea attacks the US or one of our allies. North Korea knows this, so they're not going to attack. |

Let's not forget the close ties NK has with China. Sphere of influence can be seen as just as important to China as it is to any western nation, and the chance of Cinese participation in any exchange is entirely possible.
That being said, NK is playing a dangerous game. Yes, the US does inform other nations before a missile test is conducted. It is also very well advertised through other sources. I told every one here on Saturday of the scheduled firing. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=153195 This one hour notification by NK could lead to trouble. I know part of it is meant to measure US response to short notice events, but it could go tragically wrong. |

I'm just going to tell you again, boys and girls, in the vain hope you'll sleep more easily and be less disturbed by your febrile imaginations
NK is not going to attack the USA. Repeat: NK is not going to attack the USA. And what's more the US is not going to do any regional-stability-enhancing pre-emptive striking either.
