I too sometimes get this slowdown, interesting reading your thoughts on multi core cpu's. I have a quad core 2.4, do you know of anyway to force the cpu to use one core only, or should I say force the cores to combine their efforts so sh3 is making the most of the cpu ? I'm sure I've read somewhere this is possible, but I'm buggered if I can remember where
