What I´ve learned here, is that a submarine is a boat that travels under water more than it does on surface, ergo the newer ones. I know they do travel alot on the surface, but no where near as much as the older ones.
A u-boat here is a ship that has the possibility of going submerged, but travels most of the time surfaced. Thats what I´ve learned, but I guess its different in the states then. |
