Hi guys,
Apologies if this is the wrong forum! I am interested greatly in German WW2 military history. and loved playing SHIII. However, I just wondered if anyone knew of any other great German sims? be they land sea or air (I like the tiger tank so anything with that in would be nice!). I've tried IL2 Sturmovik and to me it seems a bit too 'arcadey' I really loved Combat Flight Simulator 3 however. Thanks! |

Thanks for the recommendation. I have wondered about destroyer/surface sims. I'll check it out.
I swear someone had a signature on here where they were part of a tank game. Any ideas on what game it was? |

There is T34 v Tiger but is far from an oustanding game,Steel Fury and Steel Fury:Kharkov are also worth a look at.

No problem. I havn't actually played it yet, but when i first joined this forum i took a look at it and it had me intrigued. From what i gathered you don't just command one ship, but an entire armada. i believe its more of a sim-slash real time strategy game.

And the same thing goes for the systems modelling as well. First the one-button startup "procedure" is just laughable, and second the operational limits such as maximum continuous boost, RPM and temps are most likely waaaay too lax for all planes as modelled. And third, what's with the all-too-easy ground handling with the in-game narrow-track A/C, Allied or Axis? In reality these beasts were fiddly and dangerous to control, whereas in IL-2 you can just firewall the throttle and take of without too much hassle at all. Now try that in any high-performance single-engine prop plane IRL... So yeah, it's more an arcadey game than a sim IMO too. Feel free to disagree though, b/c I'm admittedly a bit of a grognard when it comes to flight simulators ![]() |

If it ever brings us...
Hopefully not another flight sim set in the Olegverse though, I'd like to be able to shoot down bombers with machine guns this time Anyway, I can't see how IL-2 is arcadey compared to CFS3...

Thanks for the replies guys. I tried the Kharkov game but can't seem to get my head around the controls as of yet.
The reason I find IL2 so arcadey is because the controls are so ropey and unresponsive. In CFS3 I knew what the plane would do, and I could adjust it to respond more realistically or more reliably. I also find the UI of IL2 extremely cheap and tacky but my MAIN gripe is that I cannot seem to find a good way of starting a long and interesting campaign. |

For the controls, try increasing the sensitivity of your joystick or reducing the deadzone. In some planes unresponsive controls are realistic. Some WWII fighters weren't all that nimble, and don't expect to be flying aerobatics in the TB-3! |
