With malfunctions ticked on SHC when I hit crash dive the telegraph goes to stop every time.

Is this normal in a VIIb in 1939 ?

You are experiencing one of the various engine malfunctions. I expect that if, when surfaced, you selected All Ahead Flank, you would find the telegraph switching to Stop as well.

When leaving port on a patrol I always test my top speed, and my periscopes. If they are not working properly, I abort the patrol.

I'm playing with GWX3.0 and in 17.December.1939 thereis no VIIb avaliable yet.

Hmmm. at 1.08.1939 there was one for upgrade in 2 flotilla but lack of renown then, later VIIB dissapears from "upgrade list".WTF?? in wilhelshafen aslo no VIIB but IX is alredy for 9000. stuck on IIA

My deepest dive... and I lived to tell the tale... the Type IX, there is no substitute!

I didn't know that IX can withstand such a depth. Once I went below 400m, but that was with Type VIIC/42, and that boat can go very deep. With Type IX I never dared going below 270m.
