Maybe so they won't be spotted in their camo life-rafts in case they have to abandon ship?

Looks like someone who owned a uniform company needed an infusion of cash and talked Navy procurement into the "necessity" of underwater camo. I wonder if these are being manufactured in Chicago?

Who cares about the uniforms? What the hell is going on in that formation!?
Talking in the ranks!? Eyeballing the whole damn area!? Who is that fatbody in the second rank!? Why isn't he doing pushups and sweating Crisco!? Why do I see people hanging their heads!? Are they not familiar with the position of attention!?
Why do I see sideburns in my formation!? Is this a U.S. Navy ship or American Bandstand!?

Looks ridiculous to me. Spent two hitches on two fast attacks and never once did we have a uniform inspection. Jesus! The COB looks like a schoolboy....

Funny navy story

There I was, no $h!t

About a hundred years ago I was in EOD school. We had a mixed class (Army, AF, and a few Navy). For some ungodly reason it was decided that we needed to form up one morning (mistake 1). I don't know, every once in the while the base commander seemed to want to remind us that we were EOD AND in the military. Sheeesh. Pick one ok? Anyway, ours is not to reason why, ours is just to get our sorry butts out of the racks and form up...Such is the military way (from what I hear)

The NCOIC was trying to get our motley crew into some form of military formation and we complied, more or less.

Then the NCOIC gave the command

Cover!

All the Army and Air Force guys made subtle adjustments to their body position to get a good alignment.

The Navy guys fixed their hats on their heads!!

Honest truth. All of us were laughing. God the NCOIC was pissed.

The Navy guys were suitably embarrassed.
