Your credit card company ought to have a fraud prevention unit. I'd suggest contacting them.

Wey ya cheeky bugga....I resemble that remark

@GR.....A harsh lesson to learn mate but at least it's sorted now

Two year ago I noticed a deduction of £750 pounds from my bank account.

Called at the bank and they immediately refunded the money into my account but after a month long investigation admitted they had no idea which account in London they had transferred the money to

Always check your statement at the end of each month and compare it to any dockets you have.

sigh

like so many people these days, i get the statement, thumb through it, and make sure i have sufficient funds to cover my outstanding bills.

usually - due to my job over the past few years - my wife has been the one reviewing the statements regularly.

she explained to me that she only noticed these two charges a few months ago, but had assumed that they were associated with my web site.

However, now that im home more often now, i have resumed "control" of the financing situation.

and my first act as head of the financial sector at this household was to collect up all the debit cards for the checking and saving accounts, and file them away for a period of 6 months.

this decision was made because it had become apparent that nearly $900 per month was spent on debit card purchases... and in most cases it was purchases that would have probably never been made without cash on hand.

true.

this is my debit card though. i guess i should contact mastercard.

from talking to family and friends the past couple of hours it looks like this is one of those sneaky fine print things that a credit card company will try to sneak in.

My dad for example; said that he had a similar situation arise because he did not check a little box on a credit card application that said "NO do not sign me up for the discount shopper option and privacy protection plan"

he called and cancelled those two services and the charges stopped coming every month.

i think thats what i have a case of.

at any rate... my credit card debt is very low... in fact nearly paid off.

My bank account comes with a free save deposit box. tomorrow im taking all but one credit card (including my debit cards) and placing them into a safe deposit box for the next 6 months.

at the end of that 6 month period i will be reviewing my account statements with my wife to see how much money we saved versus last year (by not doing the whole stop and shop / go out for a quick cheap dinner thing)

will be interesting
