Ok this is some major BS

For the past few months as i started my flight school, my fees for my web site have been automatically drafted out of my personal account - which is how i set it up.

Now that my business is up and running, i had transferred the payment to the new account.

all good and well so far

but now for the major BS i promised you

In reviewing my personal checking account summary online i have noticed a charge that has been automatically withdrawing $30 from my personal checking account every month for the past 2 years totaling approximately $700!!

The name of the company "Preferred shoppers edge".

I have no idea who or what preferred shoppers edge is, nor do i have any idea what service they provide or how in the cornbread f*ck i got signed up for their "service".

on the account statement there is a 1-800 number next to their company name.

It is my intent to call them first thing in the morning and ask them in no uncertain terms who in the royal blue F they are and why in the hot pink Sh*t they are taking money out of my account every month!

i would strongly encourage all of you to check your checking account summaries as i have encountered a few people who have had the same problem of not knowing how, when, where and why they are signed up for this "preferred shoppers edge" business.

basically it is costing me an entire car payment per year and i never even knew it.

i have a feeling it is one of those scams that tries to hide in your account summary in hopes that you wont look or perhaps you wont notice $30 missing from your account every month.

:x

Oh my god, this is like Office Space!

Sorry to hear about that though. I sure wouldn't want to be losing 700 dollars, even if it was spread out over 2 years.

Quick Google search turns up their home page, and just below that, a few Ripoffreport.com entries. Seems you ain't the only one.....

Your credit card company ought to have a fraud prevention unit. I'd suggest contacting them.

That would explain all of Jimbuna's new shoes and handbags!:o

true.

this is my debit card though. i guess i should contact mastercard.

from talking to family and friends the past couple of hours it looks like this is one of those sneaky fine print things that a credit card company will try to sneak in.

My dad for example; said that he had a similar situation arise because he did not check a little box on a credit card application that said "NO do not sign me up for the discount shopper option and privacy protection plan"

he called and cancelled those two services and the charges stopped coming every month.

i think thats what i have a case of.

at any rate... my credit card debt is very low... in fact nearly paid off.

My bank account comes with a free save deposit box. tomorrow im taking all but one credit card (including my debit cards) and placing them into a safe deposit box for the next 6 months.

at the end of that 6 month period i will be reviewing my account statements with my wife to see how much money we saved versus last year (by not doing the whole stop and shop / go out for a quick cheap dinner thing)

will be interesting

Contact your bank...since it is a debit card, you will not be able to recover what you have lost...but you can prevent more from coming out...

Good luck to you...

If it's a MasterCard Debit card then it works exactly the same way as a normal credit card for fraud protection and recovery.

I agree with what August said, Post haste. You might even have to get a new card.

Good luck.

I called the customer service number shown on the bank statement.

apparently, about 2 years ago, a kid showed up at my door selling magazines.

the only magazines he had that i would be interested in were "flying magazine" and "Plane & Pilot" and "Maxim"- I already had subscriptions to "Flying" and "Plane & Pilot" and didnt want to subscribe to a Maxim magazine from some door to door guy.

However he gave me the option of signing up for a magazine subscription that would be forwarded as a gift to a soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan and as a bonus i would get 6 months of any magazine on the list.

I singed up for a young lady in Iraq, sent her a magazine subscription as a gift and received my "Maxim" for 6 months woo hoo!

well, turns out, in the fine print, when you sign up with these door to door c*ck bags, you also sign up for a 6 month trial for a "Whole Sale Buyer Service" and a "Identity Theft Service"... at the end of the 6 month trial, you receive a phone call asking the following questions:

1. you would like to renew your subscription?

2. were you satisfied with your subscription and would you like to make any changes to your services in any way?

You answer No, i dont want to renew the subscription and i dont want to change my service.

bam... they got you... because you said "No" indicating you dont want to change your services in any way... the trial "whole sale buyer service" and "identity theft service" charges of $14.95 each kick in, and are debited to the account you used to pay for the magazines with - each month - until you call to cancel it.

so boys and girls

DONT BUY ANYTHING DOOR TO DOOR - NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE CAUSE MIGHT APPEAR TO BE.
