Didn't know that...I thought x86 was still 64-bit and W7 OS way of protecting the core program files

...im still unsure wether or not ive done the right thing. it was running well last night.......

Nope, on a 64-bit OS the Program Files is for 64-bit programs, and the Program Files x86 is for the older (hence the x86 architecture reference) 32-bit programs. That's not to say that the programs have to be old, I think most things are still being churned out in 32-bit format atm.

At work our developer refused to alter the code to look for the x86 file over the defaulted Program Files for installs so on 64-bit systems we had fun and games
