You may need to do a search, I have a chart screenie posted on the Tanker Alley location.

If I remember right, it is on BF39. measure 15 kms south from NE corner then run a line 240 degrees from there. That's Tanker Alley (if I got the brid correctly).

The other good location is off Cape Sao Vicente. Draw a line from 20 Kms. south of the Cape to the center of Gibraltar Strait. Lots of singles there.

Good luck!

Tanker alley strectches from BF3933 to BF 3977. Just go up and down those two points, slowly, and go to pd every few hours. Don't waste your time on the merchants, unless its calm weather, then you can use your deck and flack guns. I'll use up all of the IXB's eel's in 5 days there on Tankers and C3's. Oh, and there is also an occasional convoy

I just arrived in that grid. 5 hours of patrolling later, I made sightcontact with a convoy.

Summer'40, that means 2 warships,.... and by now they are GONE together with the first torpedo salvo and 3 freighters.

Right now, I've just reloaded, darkness has just arrived and my manouvers put me now on the left flank 2000m to the outer lane.....

I'm afraid I won't have enough torpedos to find out if there would be single freighters in this area :rotfl:

Yes , gibraltar is a good area for hunting, but be careful with planes.

i decided to push the things a bit and i enter to the med with my IX-b boat in 1941 and is an interesting zone, not large convoys but yes little convoys of two ships escorted with two or one destroyer. very challenge for now.

Also i saw interesting encounters with british units and the luftwaffe near malta (stuka aerial attacks and bombings against cargo and destroyers ) .

at the moment... three destroyers, three cruisers, four large troop ships, two landing ships with war material, and other little merchants. (one patrol and half)

Just finished raiding Gibraltor. Had to slip past 10 warships... What really ticks me off is that I didn't receive credit for the tanker I sunk at the dock I got seriously dc'd too... I'll just stick with good ol' Tanker Alley and grids AM 51-53 from now on.

Don't feel so misjudged....you've completed your patrol, did your part in shielding off the enemy from resupplies.
The fact that no-one showed up in your grids means, that they are more likely to show up in others...so in fact, you're narrowing the chance of getting through the uboat-screen you help putting up.
Do your job...follow the orders.

Look at it this way: in RL, you would be glad you made it home safe again...and the end of the war got closer again too.
You will be an ace, regardless of resuls during this patrol in particular.

*edit* sorry, I am VIIC/XXI-fan...

I've had plenty of patrols in a type IX that have resulted in not much tonnage, but I have been glad to make it back to port in one piece. Best way to get some kills is to use the convoy/single merchant traffic map form the stock game, I have and it has helped me bag a many convoys. Also try Operation Spinnennitz for intel on ship traffic for your patrol grid.
