Welcome aboard.
You'll be quietest at one knot--that's what I use to get away from escorts.

Running at below 2 kts isnt really silent running.

Silent running does two things. Stops all work on the sub, and seems to behave as a boolean value to the AI. Your either flagged as sielnt running or your not.

Acutal AI hydropone deteciton is based primarly on how many RPM's your doing, and then checks to see if your in silent running or not.

remember also that at one knot you will find it very difficult, if not impossible to creep deeper, as you will be fighting your tendancy to be neutrally buoyant...
This only applies to GWX

But if you play NYGM you must be very careful because at the speed 1 knot your boat slowly goes deeper, deeper, deeper.....

You can avoid the boat going deeped and deeper in Stock and NYGM by levelling out your dive before going to Silent Running. If I dive to avoid destroyers, I level off at my set depth (usually about 175m) before I order silent running.

Yes but very slowly... and if you make a little speed dash during DC, you get back up in no time. At 1 knt you are under the 100 rpms.
