Thanks for the reply. Where in the Captain's office? I don't mind the duds. That's historical. It's the ones that go under the ship that bother me. I have no idea where to set the depth or if I should even try. In my last run-through, 3 went under the ship and one hit dead center.

Thanks for the replies. If the torpedoes running deep is meant to happen for historical reasons, I'll leave it as it is. What depth would you set the torpedoes at to compensate, or is it meant to be not possible to compensate?

not sure if players are supposed to be able to compensate. the settings which you do not see read something like this: dud chances = % premature chances = % depth keeping chances = %, plus some depth ranges. but the depth ranges may not matter given the percentage and whatever secret value the depth is off before it it applies the range factor. so, it is difficult to say what to do. if you set your depth to lowest setting it may broach, explode, run deep anyway, or be seen and the target will react.

So it's an intentional conundrum. Thanks, Kaleun. As I mentioned, as long as it's intentional and not me screwing up somehow. Makes things more interesting/real.

The solution, of course, is to load the boat with MK10s, instead.
![]() I usually set the 14s to run as shallow as possible. I've never noticed a problem with that method. Aside from the usual prematures, duds, etc.

That's what I've been doing with the Mark 14s, with some success. I keep them on low/contact. High are almost all duds.
Thanks, Razark |
