This sounds like an easy fix, there are several types of radio messages available depending on your mod set. If you don't have any mods it would be good if you could check out the mods forum for some basic (but important) set ups.
Check back ASAP and we will sort this out.

Hi dogfish40 and Her Berbunch and Thanks for your responses
I have activated "NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith"," Accurate German Flags", "sobers better terrain v3 SH5" and "sobers waves mod V7 01012013" using JSGME and it has enhanced the game play very well it shows a radio message icon on the right hand side which is greyed out I know this works because I have been watching the tutorial videos on you tube at the link by j2jonjermery and i think it was video 2 or 3 were he applied the mods and it show the radio messages no probs.
I know there must be tons of updates and mods to use and I am sure with the help of you guys I will find the right ones any advise on which ones to use would be good..

my PC is a HP pavillion dv6 6001sa with is a AMD pheonom(tm) II 1.8GHz Quad-core uP and 4GB ram and Radeon video chipset I have no probs running any other games and it runs SH5 on max settings by default
