Default My father

It hurts so much to say anything about it but since I consider you all family, here goes.

Yesterday, the 17th, my father was in a motorcycle accident that took his life. He was airlifted to the hospital and pronounced brain-dead. Although he gained some basic functions less than an hour later, his body began to fail and my father passed away this morning after the arrangements were made for the organ donations. He's being cremated, and we are having a small, spartan service, just the way he would have wanted.
I still feel like it hasn't struck me fully yet but when I chat with people different things keep bringing up the tears and it's a struggle to not blubber about like a 2 year old.

My father, (Mark S. Myers) Was a great man who touched many lives. While he was a little gruff, he was straightforward and honest and everyone that knew him was a better person. He never hesitated to help those in need and he went out of his way to make sure people were comfortable and felt at home around him. He was my best friend and I am the luckiest 21-year-old in the world to call him my father. This holiday season is going to be so tough. He always went to my grandmothers 3 hours early to help her cook, mash the potatoes, and he would cut the turkey.
On Christmas day he was always the one who handed out presents.
I wish you guys could have met him. He was my hero.

Quem di diligunt, adolescens moritur
-Whom the gods love, dies young.

I miss you dad..

Terrible news there Sledgehammer. It's very tough to lose a parent but so sudden and at such an early age is so much more difficult. My heart goes out to you and your family. You are in my prayers.

The holidays will be hard but you must always remember all the good your father did and let that help you in this tough time.

May he rest in peace.

Mr. Myers you said: "He was my best friend and I am the luckiest 21-year-old in the world to call him my father." My mother was that way for me when she died. But this tragedy of your is a total surprise and you are so young. Its going to hurt guy and if you feel the urge to blubber - do it.

Try not to sleep in a room alone - If you have brothers or sisters near make one sleep in the same room as yourself, and do so for them. At least for a week. Be strong in public, but shed tears freely with those who loved your father and who shed tears.

Avoid all anger during this time - no matter what the accident report is.
Irrespective of your present beliefs - whatever they are - I can assure you that your father is not far from you. When I was very near death I learned that there is really only one important thing in life for us humans - that is our loved ones: family and friends and the people who need us.

The Egyptians believed that if you spoke the name of the dead they lived again. Speak often of the good things your father did in his life so that people will not forget a good man.

I am so sorry for your loss.

There is a time for tears where they show a certain meaning of strength, and then, some time later, after that comes a time of strength that does not need tears anymore. I wish you a transition from the first to the second just naturally, and gently. But it will take time. Hold on to your family.

I am very sorry for your loss. My great aunt died last week, but your father's death sounds completely unexpected. My deepest condolences.

I am very, very sorry for your loss.

I lost my dad when I was 14 years old. He was my hero then, and now that I am 61+ years old he is still my hero.

It does get easier, but it takes time.
I still miss him, but I carry pride in knowing who and what he was.
Be proud of carrying on his name.

God Bless you. You are in my prayers.
