What do you think some laws are for ?

This was about siblings, having some genetic impact (inbreeding) in case of children.

If "the state shall not interfere", what about sex between parents and their children ?

Are we talking about adults or children here?

This is a different issue. If we're talking about activities between adults and minors, there is a legitimate issue of responsibility and accountability - children are susceptible to abuse, and are not in a position to make consent. But if we're talking about activities between two consenting adults, what is the problem?

I think the state should not interfere in things that responsible adults do with each other, end of story.

As the article suggests, by the way, while incest is known to create medical risks, it is also far less of a medical and social risks than a multitude of other things, including smoking, drinking and eating fast food. Which to me again suggests that regulation of this is purely social - people will allow harmful behaviour to be a private choice if enough of the population does it, and deny even slightly harmful behaviour if it is culturally-taboo. I think there is a case to be made for protecting one's culture, but it shouldn't over-ride the common human right of all responsible adults to do what they please with themselves. Especially when it becomes political, which IMO is just a waste of the government's resources and an excellent way to bully minorities into submission, which no democratic government should have the right to do.

Oh, and it's not like I'm promoting incest. It's just that a) I see this as a matter of democratic principle; b) I also see evidence that fighting cases of incest between adults has probably caused more harm (in the broadest, including political, sense) than incest itself.

I have always been learned to respect others standpoint in whatever it may concern and I do respect yours

But, a father-daughter(18+), Mother-son(18+) or a Brother-sister(18+) relationship is in my mind so wrong. I can't make a long speech why I think so. I just feel it's wrong.

But the question is...should these two be facing a possible 2 years jail term?

So do I, but should what you or I feel is wrong dictate law to everyone else?

In this case its two adults with different mothers but the same father.

The actual question that was raised is should these two be facing a 2 year jail term?
