The first actor to play James Bond: Bob Simmons
Dr No - Goldfinger

(He's the guy in the gunbarrel)

The correct order, as I've stated on this forum before, is

1. Connery
2. Moore
3. Lazenby
4. Craig
5. Brosnan
6. Dalton

Anything else is wrong.

I voted for Connery, with Daniel Craig right there with him. The reason is simple: the early Connery movies and the new Casino Royale are the only ones that actually follow the books fairly closely. That is a major factor for my enjoyment. I thought Timothy Dalton was fine, if only the movies themselves hadn't stunk to high heaven. Pierce Brosnan was nothing like the Bond of the books, and neither was Roger Moore. George Lazenby was bad, but the movie itself followed the book quite well, which is a plus.

Actually the first actor to play James Bond was Barry Nelson, in Casino Royale, back in 1953.

For early American television they had to turn him into an American, but still...

The first proper British James Bond was Bob Holness of 'Blockbusters' fame, but that was on the radio.

But, there is only one James Bond, and that's Sean Connery.

However, I do like Dalton, so

I believe we had a thread like this a couple of months ago, let me go find it...here we are:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=196576

Quote:
Actors:
1) Connery
2) Dalton
3) Brosnan

Films:
1) You only live twice
2) Goldfinger
3) The Living Daylights
4) Goldeneye
And, of course, the beautiful soundtrack of John Barry.

Craig by quite a lead, with Brosnan in second and Connery in third.

Really bad was none of them all.

Daniel Craig is the actor that portrays the character of JB most accurately from the books. JB was a bit of a thug.

However the scripts that Craig is in makes it hard to vote for him.

It would be nice if someone made some JB movies that followed the books (the original books)
