Original ALIENS story had Newt's folks going into the ship, her pop getting caught by a facehugger, and then her mom dragging them all back via their crawler to Hadley's Hope. (So, yeah, the whole plot of ALIENS is basically Newt's dad's fault.) I think I remember Cameron shooting some of that sequence, but not all of it, and it was left out of the theatrical release.

on the "Special Edition" of ALIENS.
