Nice job. I did notice someone mentioned no smoke. The funnels in the sim file are not linked to the funnels (cos1 and cos 2) in the .dat file.
The other thing I noticed is the 5in_Double_base_US guns use the stock guns and only have 250 rounds. The game is so inaccurate in shooting, I find you run out of ammo for these guns very quickly. Peabody

Open the weaponname.sim with S3D. Find the weapon you want, open the node ammo_storage and change the numbers there to your liking.

I tried that, but it didn't seem to work. The only ammunition I am able to increase are the playable guns. All of the AI controled weapons are still running out of ammo quickly.
